Building permit

If you want to construct a building within the area of Port Esbjerg, you must apply for a building permit from Esbjerg Municipality.

Prior to submitting the building project to Esbjerg Municipality for approval, the project must be submitted to Port Esbjerg for comment.

In practical terms, this means that the entire project must be submitted via e-mail to Port Esbjerg (adm@portesbjerg.dk), after which Port Esbjerg will revert with its comments, if any. After this you can apply for a building permit from Esbjerg Municipality. Any comments put forward by Port Esbjerg must be attached to the final application.

Please do not hesitate to contact Port Esbjerg for further assistance during the construction process.

Please note that Port Esbjerg has no knowledge of utility cables on leased areas.

For more information about building permits, please see here.

If you want to demolish a building, the procedure is the same. For more information about demolition of buildings, please see here.
