Ole Ingrisch, CEO at the Port of Esbjerg, Denmark, today announced that he plans to retire by the end of February 2019.

Since 2003, Ole Ingrisch has been heading the Port of Esbjerg’s remarkable development process which includes an increase in the Port’s area by more than 1 million m2 - the new East Port. During the same period, the top and bottom line figures of the Port have increased significantly. The Port’s board of directors will now launch a recruitment process to find a new CEO expected to take up the position by March 1st, 2019.

Flemming N. Enevoldsen, chairman of the Port of Esbjerg’s board of directors, states:

In virtue of his strategic flair, consequent execution, and passionate commitment Ole Ingrisch has transformed the Port of Esbjerg into one of Northern Europe’s leading ports. Today, the Port of Esbjerg is not only Europe’s leading offshore wind port but also an innovative hub for the Danish oil and gas industry and Denmark’s leading RoRo port. The Port of Esbjerg is a well-run, up-to-date, and financially sound port. Moreover, under the direction of Ole Ingrisch, the Port has managed to attract a considerable number of companies thereby contributing to securing a high level of activity also for the years to come.

The members of the Port’s board of directors have enjoyed working together with Ole Ingrisch. Personally, I have always appreciated his honest and straightforward attitude which has at times caused controversies here on the west coast of Jutland. However, in my opinion, the transformation of the Port of Esbjerg required unambiguous communication.

Jesper Frost Rasmussen, Mayor, the Municipality of Esbjerg, says:

The city of Esbjerg and the Port of Esbjerg are two sides of the same coin. To the city, it is of the utmost importance that the person at the helm of the port is highly competent. Ole Ingrisch is, indeed, highly competent, and he has had substantial influence on the process that has transformed Esbjerg into the Energy Metropolis that it is today. In this context, I especially want to emphasize the importance of the Port’s master plan from 2004 which marked the starting point of the Port’s remarkable growth journey that has resulted in the creation of a significant number of jobs within the municipality of Esbjerg.

Ole Ingrisch comments:

A fantastic journey is coming to an end, and I am very grateful for having been given the opportunity of heading the Port of Esbjerg during a period of dynamic growth. Over the past 15 years, all the Port’s dedicated stakeholders have supported the development of the Port - board members, owners, customers, and staff members. I would very much like to use this opportunity to thank everyone for their great support!

Now the time has come for me to retire. I intend to spend more time with my children and my grandchildren - and more time on hunting and sailing. I will, however, stay connected to the labor market through various board memberships and consultancy jobs.
