For Port Esbjerg, 2024 was a historic year. With a record-high revenue of EUR 42.08 million and an all-time high net profit of EUR 12.01 million, Port Esbjerg not only delivered its best-ever financial performance, it also created a foundation for continued investments in the infrastructure of the future.
On Friday, 6 June, Port Esbjerg held its Annual Meeting at the local Blue Water Arena, at the same time publishing its financial statements for 2024. And the numbers show that Port Esbjerg is performing strongly.
Revenue came to a record-high of EUR 42.08 million. Profit was EUR 31.76 million, also an all-time high, up 22 per cent on 2023.
“We’re extremely pleased with our full-year financial results,” says Port Esbjerg CEO Dennis Jul Pedersen.
In 2024, Port Esbjerg invested EUR 54.53 million in, for example, the deepening of the Grådyb fairway, land acquisitions in Måde and the development of the East Port. Together with the investments made in 2023, Port Esbjerg has thus made investments worth EUR 115.66 million over two years. According to Jul Pedersen, this is proof that Port Esbjerg is whole-heartedly focused on the future.
“There’s strong demand for the capacity and flexibility we’re offering today already, and this demand will only grow stronger in the years ahead. We spend the money on investments in the port for the benefit of our customers,” says Jul Pedersen.

Hundreds of cars, containers, and offshore wind turbine blades lined up for shipment from Port Esbjerg – a clear reflection of the high level of activity in offshore wind, container traffic, and RoRo operations.
RoRo still a cornerstone
Despite the growth in offshore wind and container traffic, RoRo continues to play a key role in Port Esbjerg’s profile. In 2024, RoRo accounted for 40 per cent of total cargo turnover, driven in particular by a steep increase in car imports. The number of cars handled increased from 46,616 in 2023 to 53,725 in 2024 – an increase of more than 15 per cent. But Port Esbjerg also recorded growth in wind turbine cargo, bulk, container and increased demand for space.
A green and international hub
In 2024, Port Esbjerg also strengthened its role as Europe’s leading climate port through investments in shore-to-ship power plants and waste management, for example. In addition, Port Esbjerg acted as a base port for two major German offshore wind projects, resulting in a high occupancy rate and strengthening the strategic partnership with the wind industry.

Chairman of the Board, Søren Gade, during a panel debate at Port Esbjerg’s Annual Meeting 2025, where challenges and opportunities on the horizon for the port were discussed.
Chairman: The best years are ahead of us
Chairman of the Board Søren Gade is pleased with Port Esbjerg’s financial results – but sees even greater opportunities on the horizon:
“Port Esbjerg delivered a strong performance in 2024. But what is even more exciting is that the greatest prospects are still ahead of us. Supported by our location, pace of investment and green ambitions, we’re strongly positioned for a future in which we play an even greater role – both domestically and internationally. Port Esbjerg has become a hub – for green energy, international logistics and European security.”
The financial statements also show that Port Esbjerg has equity of EUR 169 million and cash equivalents of EUR 28.6 million.
