The Port of Esbjerg has published a anniversary book on the occasion of its 150th anniversary. This will be marked at an event on Thursday 5 April, where the Port of Esbjerg has invited the authors of the book as well as former dock workers Henning Hyllested and Erik Trigger to come and tell anecdotes from the port.

In 1868 the Danish Parliament decided to build the port of Esbjerg. Back then, the town was just a small hamlet consisting of a single farm, three houses and 23 inhabitants. Today, the Port of Esbjerg has grown into an international port where the docks are filled with oil and gas, offshore windmill and cargo vessel traffic.

The publishing of the anniversary book will be celebrated at a free event on Thursday 5 April in the Port of Esbjerg's service yard. Here, the authors of the book and specially invited guests will tell stories about the port.

Among other things, the book tells the story of how the Port of Esbjerg Harbor in the early 1900s evolved from being a port of export to becoming a fishing port and how it came to be that the Port of Esbjerg today is the North Sea's leading hub for offshore wind. The book also reveals a host of great anecdotes and photos from the local archives. These not only provide a portrait of the port, but also of the town of Esbjerg and its inhabitants.

The event takes place on Thursday 5 April at 5 PM at the Port of Esbjerg's Service Yard, Taurusvej 3.

At the event, the book costs DKK 299.00 and includes a greeting from its authors. Books are also available in English.
