A new terminal is set to make logistics easier for Scandinavian Auto Logistics. Its location at the East Port is right off the E20 motorway and enables SAL to design the setup of the terminal from scratch.

Scandinavian Auto Logistics, SAL, has entered a new lease agreement with the Port of Esbjerg that is to make logistics easier in terms of transporting the thousands of cars that the company handles every month. ”We've had the opportunity to build a brand new terminal from the ground up and with immediate access to the E20. So for us it's a happy event and we look forward to getting started," says Commercial Director Michael Lodberg. SAL distributes cars from assembly plants to dealerships in Scandinavia, Great Britain and Central Europe via Esbjerg Port. The construction is planned to commence this spring, and SAL will be moving in in the late summer. Another step towards the master plan ”This is yet another step towards fulfilling our 2004 master plan.” This is what CEO Ole Ingrisch says about the lease of a 60,000 square metre area at the East Port. Ole Ingrisch is very satisfied that the investment made in 2004 turned out to be a sound one. ”In our master plan for the East Port we emphasized that the new port areas should be flexible and continuously adaptable to match the needs of future customers. It turned out this approach was key to our ability to attract activities to the East Port,” says Ole Ingrisch. In connection with the new harbor areas on the East Port, the Port of Esbjerg constructed a new slip road to the port last autumn. The road leads directly into the port area via an existing roundabout. This provides good logistical prerequisites for the new terminal because lorries can expect to save both time and fuel, as they can drive straight from the terminal to the E20. ”The new terminal isn't just great news for the port, but also for the town of Esbjerg. That's because its location in the East Port means a lot of lorry traffic will be routed away from the town. It goes without saying this will benefit traffic safety and the environment. It will also reduce traffic congestions in the town centre,” says Ole Ingrisch. Scandinavian Auto Logistics' new 60,000 square metre terminal is established in direct connection with the port's two new RoRo ramps and with direct access to the E20. The terminal will become the neighbour of a recently constructed multi-terminal on the one side and the storage areas of the windmill industry on the other side.
